The sun found a crack in the rock and came through.
Shot in Snæfellsnes, Iceland.
This was the final morning of a road trip through Iceland. On the beach of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, the rising sun aligned with a natural crevice in the basalt formations above the shore, sending a shaft of light directly onto the black pebbles below. It lasted a few minutes.
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is one of Iceland's most storied landscapes — the setting for Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth, and believed by some to be one of seven global energy centres. The beach here is volcanic black pebble, polished by Atlantic waves, and the basalt formations that line the shore are the remnants of ancient lava flows. In the early morning, before the light flattens, the textures in the rock and the pebbles are at their most legible.
In your space, this print carries the feeling of a morning that started well.
