This museum-grade paper gives muted blacks with even colour reproduction, and excellent detail. The surface has minimal texture with a chalky smooth cotton feel which creates smooth colour gradients.

Frame Details

The frame is made in Germany from FSC®-certified wood. The wood comes from sustainably managed forests that meet the criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council. The frame is equipped with edge-ground float glass, an acid-free insert, and a sturdy rear panel. The rear panels are equipped with hangers.

I'd just come up from the subway during the January 2018 blizzard when I saw these two people walking past the Globe — the large spherical sculpture near the exit. What stopped me was the colour: their outerwear, by coincidence, closely matched the tones of the structure and the grey-white sky behind it. The whole frame felt coordinated in a way that no one had planned.

The Globe structure near this Midtown subway exit is one of those pieces of public art that most commuters pass without registering. In the blizzard, with the usual visual noise stripped away, it became the anchor of the image. The circular form against the flat white sky, the two figures in their accidental camouflage — it's the kind of thing that only happens when the city is quiet enough to notice.

Richard Lam

Richard Lam is a Vancouver-based photographer and filmmaker whose work captures the quiet beauty of fleeting moments. With over a decade behind the camera, his photography is rooted in a deep sense of curiosity, presence, and human connection.

What began as a personal practice—documenting everyday moments to hold onto how they felt—quickly evolved into a creative calling. Richard eventually left a corporate career to pursue storytelling full-time, combining his marketing background with a thoughtful, visual approach to narrative.

His prints are the result of years spent traveling, observing, and refining his craft. Each image is a reflection of Richard’s belief that photography has the power to slow us down, help us see more clearly, and connect us to something greater than ourselves.
